Hospice Care

HIA Hospice: Formerly Hospice of the Red River Valley

For over 40 years, Hospice of the Red River Valley has provided compassionate care across the region. Now, this legacy continues as HIA Hospice, offering vital support to individuals and families during life’s most challenging moments. While only our name has changed, this transition to HIA Hospice signifies a strengthened commitment to our values and the community, as we unite the ways we serve you — because at HIA Hospice, Hearts In Action means being there when each moment matters most.

Live Well with HIA Hospice

Hospice care is intensive comfort care for those with a life-limiting, serious illness who have chosen to stop or go without curative treatments. Hospice treats the patient while also supporting their loved ones. It relieves pain and symptoms while attending to an individual’s physical, personal, emotional and spiritual needs. With an emphasis on comfort, patients and their loved ones are able to spend time simply being together. When pain and symptoms are relieved, the anxiety and stress that may accompany a terminal illness are lessened, too. Time with hospice is time living and making memories.

For caregivers, the stress of caring for someone with a serious illness is reduced by having a team of compassionate professionals available. We work closely with loved ones to educate and empower them as caregivers. Our team provides much needed support not only for our patients, but also for their loved ones during and after care, including education and grief support.
