Giving Back is Hearts in Action.
HIA Health embodies ‘Hearts in Action’ by offering volunteers meaningful ways to stay engaged and make a difference in the lives of patients and families. With flexible opportunities tailored to your skills and interests, you can provide emotional and practical support in a way that fits your schedule. Volunteering with HIA Health is a fulfilling and rewarding experience that allows you to give back to the community while staying active and connected. Because at HIA Health, Giving Back is Hearts in Action.
Volunteers provide critical support for our day-to-day work while changing lives and truly making a difference in their communities. Whether spending time with patients, helping in the office or working at our thrift and gift store, volunteers are an essential part of the Hospice team. We have more than 325 devoted volunteers of all ages and backgrounds throughout our service area. They all have one thing in common: a desire to help others and give back.
For those who would like to work directly with patients, there are several volunteer roles available, including patient care, hairstylists, massage therapists and pet therapists. We also have non-patient care roles, including office volunteers, special events and seamstresses. Whatever your skills and interests, we have a volunteer role for you.
We provide training to all volunteers to help ensure you feel prepared and confident. Our volunteer training, which includes topics required by Medicare, covers the philosophy of Hospice of the Red River Valley, the end-of-life process, grief and loss, and more.
