Hospice of the Red River Valley Rebrands as HIA Hospice

Formerly Known as Hospice of the Red River Valley, the Organization Introduces a New Name, HIA Hospice, Reflecting Community Growth and Expansion of Care Services.

Fargo, N.D., June 9, 2025 – Hospice of the Red River Valley, a trusted nonprofit hospice provider serving North Dakota and northwestern Minnesota for over 44 years, is excited to announce its rebrand and name change to HIA Hospice. This transformation reflects the organization’s growth and continued dedication to compassionate, high-quality care, now unified under the new overarching brand, HIA Health.

The letters HIA stand for “Hearts In Action,” encapsulating the organization’s unwavering mission to provide care and support when every moment matters. While the name is changing, the organization’s commitment to its patients and communities has not wavered.

“For more than four decades, our patients and their loved ones have been at the heart of everything we do,” said Tracee Capron, Executive Director of HIA Health. “Our new name honors our history while embracing the future of compassionate care across every stage of life’s journey.”

Since its founding in Fargo, North Dakota, in 1981, the organization has expanded its service area to cover more than 63,000 square miles, ensuring access to high-quality hospice care for individuals and families, no matter where they live. In addition to hospice services, they formed HIA House Calls, formerly House Calls, in 2019 to provide home-based primary and palliative care to those with a serious illness. The new name represents an ongoing commitment to meeting the evolving needs of communities while staying true to the values that have guided the organization for decades.

Key highlights of the rebrand include:

  • The adoption of the new name HIA Hospice to better reflect the care provided today and into the future.
  • Integration into the larger HIA Health brand, symbolizing a unified approach to holistic care.
  • A renewed focus on compassionate, patient-centered services with no changes to patients’ current high-quality care.

Patients, families and partners can rest assured that HIA Hospice remains their independent, nonprofit hospice provider. Existing contact information, including the phone number (800) 237-4629, will remain unchanged, ensuring seamless continuity in support and communication.
